Drawing from Observation – Lee Edge

Prerequisites: Some drawing experience or a strong desire to learn
Workshop Content: Participants will learn how to “measure” and compare subject matter: will learn to observe negative space; will understand good composition; will become familiar with the proper application of graphite pencil for shading; will learn to use vine charcoal for shading; will comprehend how to create a 3-dimensional effect on a 2-dimensional surface; will become more observant and to “see” with a more critical eye.

Biography: Lee has been teaching art for more than 40 years, in various public school systems in several states as well as adult education, Gifted/Talented classes in colleges and universities in VA, and for several years in Tellico Village. Lee has an undergrad degree from Moore College of Art and Design and a master’s from Temple University/Tyler School of Fine Arts, both in Philadelphia, PA. Over the years Lee’s art works have received numerous awards in watercolor, pastel painting, printmaking and photography. She exhibits with the Knoxville Watercolor Society and holds Signature Memberships in The Tennessee Watercolor Society and the Southern Watercolor Society, having received occasional awards in exhibits sponsored by both societies.
