Class Content:
Participants will learn: perspective; value drawing with pencils and conte sticks from still life (not portraits); how to observe and measure proportion; how to consider negative space; how to see and analyze subject matter; how to create a good composition. Students emerge from this class understanding how “to see” rather than merely look at subject matter.
The session is equivalent to 24 hours of study (likened to 8 sessions if half days). We meet full days on Tuesdays in April. The sample drawing shown is an indication of value drawing. We will work from inanimate objects called still life drawing.

Biography:
Lee Edge holds 2 degrees in art from Moore College of Art and Design (summa cum laude) and Tyler School of Fine Arts, Temple University, both in Philadelphia PA. She has taught in PA, Wyoming, Utah, Ohio, Virginia and Texas in public schools including adult education. She has received numerous awards for teaching excellence including Outstanding Art Teacher of Ohio and three time recipient of The VA Governor’s School Outstanding Art Teacher Award. Lee has won numerous awards in national, regional, state, and area art exhibitions. She is a member of AGTV, Knoxville Watercolor Society, TN Watercolor Society, and Southern Watercolor Society (holds signature membership in the last two societies).
