Participants will learn: perspective; value drawing with pencils and conte sticks from still life (not portraits); how to observe and measure proportion; how to consider negative space; how to see and analyze subject matter; how to create a good composition. Students emerge from this class understanding how “to see” rather than merely look at subject matter.
The session is equivalent to 24 hours of study (likened to 8 sessions if half days). We meet full days on Tuesdays in April. The sample drawing shown is an indication of value drawing. We will work from inanimate objects called still life drawing.
