In addition to classes and workshops, the Art Guild of Tellico Village organizes ongoing art related activities.
Art journaling is a mixed media art opportunity. We use an art journal as a place to try new ways to create small paintings with paints, pens, papers, stencils and other tools. Pam George shares mixed media techniques and demonstrates creative ways to create art. We share ideas, paint, talk and relax.
There is no right or wrong way to journal art. This is not a journal of words, but a journal of art experiments!
Monthly beginning in September:
Chota Room A
- 2nd Friday of the month mornings: 9 – 12 pm
- 4th Friday of the month afternoons: 1 – 4 pm
Please email Pam George to join the email list for this fun group: email@example.com. There is no fee and no commitment is required.
Want to get involved in making and trading art without a huge commitment? Join our Artist trading card exchange program. An artist trading card is a small work of art (2.5 x 3.5) size that you make with the materials of your choice (Paint, pens, markers, pencils etc.) in any style you wish. Every month there will be a theme as a prompt for you to follow. For the remainder of 2021 the themes are as follows:
- September (due September 20th): artists choice
- October (due October 20th): Fall/ Harvest
- November (due November 20th): Something you are thankful for
- December (due December 20th): Winter/Holidays
There are some wonderful lessons and examples of Artist trading cards at YouTube by the following artists: Susane Rose Art, Cat Hand, Maremi small art, and Barb Owen. Check out their videos for fun ideas.
ATCs can be acquired at online retailers, from Cathie Salvo, or you can make your own (2.5″ x 3.5″) from your favorite papers. No sign-up is required! Members who wish to participate should mail their ATC to Cathie Salvo or drop it off in the designated box on her front porch at 116 Wewoka Way Loudon, TN 37774.
On the back of the ATC please add your name and date, and optionally a title/notes. Please return your painted cards with a self-addressed stamped envelope so she can send your exchange cards to you. After the deadline, Cathie will mail an ATC to each person who dropped one off. If you send in multiple ATC you will receive the same number in return. For blank ATC cards or for questions please contact Cathie at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 209-352-3908.
Would you like feedback on your artwork?
Member and professional artist Tom Stade is offering to critique AGTV member artwork — works in progress or finished pieces. Tom attended the Kendall School of Design in Grand Rapids Michigan earning a degree in illustration. Now retired, he worked for 25 years in commercial illustration.
Tom will look at each artist’s piece considering the principles of design which work together to create something that is aesthetically pleasing. Participating artists will hear the critique on their own work and the other artists’ work.
Join us: Tuesday March 30th at 2:00 pm on Zoom
Everyone who has participated has reported how much they have learned and appreciated Tom’s comments.
