Class Content: Have you always wondered about Stained Glass? During this fun and informative class, you will learn the entire “Tiffany” or copper foil method of creating stained glass from start to finish. All equipment and supplies are included. There will be several design patterns to choose from, and a selection of colored glass will be provided. You will trace the patterns, cut and prepare the glass, solder the pieces together and go home with a finished piece, all in three hours!

Biography: With a BA in Interior Design from Kent State University, Marc has enjoyed creative outlets most of his life, whether generating Frank Lloyd Wright inspired designs in paint, as floor treatments, or devising intricate designs for stained glass compositions. The college curriculum while design oriented, was also focused on architecture and fine art, including numerous drawing, visual organization, and construction technology courses, which have all added to the depth of Marc’s design acumen. In the mid-1990’s, Marc fulfilled a longstanding desire to learn Stained Glass techniques. Early on, Marc’s secondary career as a Stained Glass artist took the turn toward utilization of repurposed and reimagined materials and he has never looked back. In fact, many of his commissions feature unusual glass items or materials as their focal point, and it is these reimagined elements that serve as the inspiration for a given piece. He is a firm believer that Stained Glass is a complex hybrid of art and craft, requiring artistic creativity to design a composition and select the appropriate glass colors, patterns, and textures. It then takes the skills of a craftsman to fabricate the designed composition.

In 2013, with the opening of F.L.A.V.O.R. Studio in upstate NY, Marc realized a lifelong dream to have a dedicated art/work space, which not only allowed for an improved studio environment, but also provided a creative atmosphere where Marc could teach Stained Glass Workshops. With his wife, Debbie, Marc, was also responsible for the creation and administration of a county-wide art trail in Steuben County, NY that showcased the amazing art that was being created in that rural county in western NY. Featuring as many as 35 artists during the weekend event each April, attendees could visit each and every studio and artist, to watch live demonstrations, meet the artists in their work environments, and even purchase works to take home. Running for 8 years, the Arts in Bloom Art Trail helped create a community between the local artists and their neighbors and patrons.
Now in Knoxville, Marc and Deb have rebranded their studio from F.L.A.V.O.R. Studio to Master Repurposers to better reflect the inspiration that secondhand materials can bring to their art. His first local exhibit took place in April 2021 at the Fountain City Library, followed up by an exhibit in August at The Emporium with his wife in a joint show. In November, 2021, Marc was not only selected as one of five local artists to demonstrate his process at the United Way ADT Celebration Event, but he was chosen to film a live Stained Glass demonstration for the Discovery+ network for specific broadcast on their youtube channel.

Marc is excited to call Knoxville home, and in his first year as an artist here, he has found great support from both The Maker City and Arts Alliance organizations, and looks forward to creating exciting new collections in the coming year.
