Class Content:
Use watercolor and/or acrylics to create a fun and colorful painting of fall leaves. Real leaves will be used for stamping along with wet on wet techniques, negative painting, use of white space and unique color schemes to create a dynamic piece of artwork.
The morning will be focused on creating a colorful leaf painting and the afternoon will be used to explore the option of adding collage and mixed media to a second painting.
Demos along with individual help will encourage everyone in their own artistic expression.
Supply List:
Watercolor and/or acrylic paints, brushes, water container, paper towels and pencil. Two 11×15 inch or larger sheets of 140 lb cold press watercolor paper. I strongly recommend Arches watercolor paper for best results with wet on wet and blending techniques. I will have Arches 140 # watercolor paper available for purchase at the class for $3 / 11 x 15 piece.
Bring a small assortment of collage papers along with any oil pastels, Posca pens, metallic paints, ink pens, etc that you already have on hand.
*** Real Leaves – You will want an assortment of leaves in different shapes and sizes, about 6-8 of each type of leaf. Pick them while they are still green because dried leaves won’t stamp well. Put all leaves in a ziplock bag in the freezer until the day of class to keep them fresh and to avoid mildew. More information on all the painting supplies that I like and
