Workshop Content: This workshop will give the student a big dose of foundational instruction, including shapes, value, design, and composition. Then we will move to the more advanced techniques of perspective and paint applications including color mixing with a limited palette. While we often hear about the importance of light in painting, Aurora likes to emphasize the importance of shadows as well. Aurora will demonstrate and teach her approach to landscape painting with a landscape including water, reflections and rocks. This is a 2-day workshop, working Friday-Saturday 9-4 with a break for lunch.

Biography: It has been said that Aurora’s paintings play on the viewer’s emotions and invite them momentarily to leave the real world behind and enjoy the mood she has created. Aurora’s expert ability to harmonize design and color allows her to depict a wide variety of subjects in a way that is both realistic and romantic. Working exclusively in oil, she uses a very limited palette consisting of only the three primaries. She combines opaque tones of soft colors, with layers of transparent glaze, achieving an authentic three-dimensional quality, tempered with subtle overtones. While being basically self-taught, she has honed her talent and skill by taking workshops in oil and other artistic media, such as watercolor and pastels. Aurora is the recipient of many awards and honors, from juried exhibitions to being a featured artist in North Light artist magazine. Her paintings hang in numerous corporate and private collections throughout the United States and abroad. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with others by conducting workshops and giving demonstrations.
