This is a recent commission done by Laurie Szilvagyi. It is a take off of Grant Woods American Gothic and is titled “When Love and Duty Call”.
Gentleman Jack
Laurie recently received notice that her painting, Gentleman Jack, was juried into the International Guild of Realism’s (IGOR) Spring Exhibit. IGOR includes artists from over 15 countries represented in the Spring Salon Final Jury. Artists from Canada, England, Norway, USA, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, South Africa, Russia, Ukraine, Holland, Philippines, Mexico, Greece, Australia, France, Spain, Hong Kong and India are included in the exhibition. These artists represent a diversity of media including Acrylic, Watercolor, Oil, Soft Pastel, Colored Pencil, Gouache, Graphite, Pastel, Ink, Tempera and Scratchboard.

Dennis Sabo’s multi-exposure art piece from Acadia National Park, Maine, “Ethereal Tarn” was juried into the“Arts in the Airport Spring 2022 Exhibition”, Knoxville, Tennessee. This year the judge, Althea Murphy-Price, received 498 entries from 133 artists throughout the region, and 41 pieces from 36 artists have been selected for the show.
“Arts in the Airport Spring 2022 Exhibition” will be at the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (McGhee Tyson Airport) from April 28th through October.

Dennis Sabo’s art piece, “Monet’s Dream II” was selected into the 2022 National Juried Exhibition, Knoxville, Tennessee. This year the judge, Tommie Rush, received 335 submissions from 93 artists throughout the region and 50 art works were selected.
Says Dennis about his art work, “My painterly photographs are reminiscent of how the impressionists recorded light. However my photography of the natural world captures light and its effect on the landscape with a contemporary vibrancy and energy.”
The National Juried Exhibition will be at the Emporium Center for Arts and Culture, 100 South Gay Street, Knoxville, TN., 37902 from February 4th to February 26th. Dennis Sabo Photography takes First, Second, Third, and Honorable mention Place Awards in the Southern Appalachian Nature Photographer (SANP) 2021 SANP Salon photography exhibition.
Dennis’s enchanted autumn tree “Branching Out” took First Place in the Plant/Botanical category, his majestic New Mexico scenic “I’ll Paint Here” took second place in the scenic category; his whimsical clear water flowing creek “Meandering” took third in the Abstract category and rounded out a wonderful salon showing his “Jordan’s Topaz” received honorable mention in same category.

Dennis Sabo’s, “Aqua Surf” has been juried into the Cultural Center of Cape Cod-“The Magic of Water” gallery exhibition.
This year the Directors of the Cultural Center received 990 entries from 332 artists worldwide and 90 artists were selected.
Aqua Surf is a raging Tennessee white water creek photographed to appear like large ocean surf.
“The 2020 Art of Seeing video showcases my journey as an artist as well as comments from collectors along with examples of some of my favorite photography.”
Tennessee Watercolor Society (TnWS) 2022 Biennial Exhibition
“Blackberry Blossom,” Judy’s colorful watercolor painting of a sprig of white wild blackberry blossoms, has been selected by juror Stan Miller for the Tennessee Watercolor Society (TnWS) 2022 Biennial Exhibition. The exhibition takes place May 14 to June 24, 2022, at the Association for Visual Arts (AVA), 30 Frazier Avenue, Chattanooga, TN, with opening ceremonies on May 21st.
Arts in the Airport
Two of Judy’s paintings have been selected among only 41 chosen for “Arts in the Airport” at McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville TN. Juror Althea Murphy-Price has chosen both “Baby Boomer” and “Honeysuckle.” Judy competed with 498 entries in a wide variety of media, submitted by 133 artists residing in the 33 counties of East Tennessee. This exhibition will run from May through October, 2022. Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport is located at 2055 Alcoa Highway, Alcoa TN, and the exhibit is located beyond the security gate checkpoint, for viewing by visitors flying in or out of the airport.
2022 Online Exhibition of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists (ISSA)
“I Will Twine” and “Silly Selfie,” original scratchboards by Judy, will be featured in the 2022 Online Exhibition of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists (ISSA). The exhibit will run May 1 through June 30, 2022 on the organization’s website: scratchboardsociety.org

Arts in the Airport
Linemen’s Rodeo
Ted Richards recently received notice that his painting, Linemen’s Rodeo, was juried into the Arts in the Airport Spring 2021 exhibition. There were 484 entries from 121 artist, and 41 pieces were selected for the show. Opening reception is on April 20. 2021 and runs to October 2021 (end date TBA).
Muriel is among some Art Guild members who have been juried into the 2021 Open Show of the Oak Ridge Art Center. The exhibition is from October 2 – November 27, 2021.
Tulips
Muriel Fawcett’s “Tulips” was juried into the Knoxville Arts and Cultural Alliance’s No Bigger Than a Breadbox exhibition. 67 pieces were selected out of 384 entries, for the show at the Emporium. The exhibit ends April 30.

Jack has submitted both a fine art print and an original poem for an exhibition at the Oak Ridge Arts Center. The works are for their “Visual Poetry” exhibition slated for May 15 through July 3. Artists have to submit a visual art piece PLUS a related poem. The poem does not have to be written by the creator of the visual art.

Jack has been accepted as a juried member of the ART MARKET in Knoxville, TN. For those not familiar with the ART MARKET, it is, in their words … “the premier art gallery in Knoxville, TN”. On their website, they describe the Art Market Gallery as “a cooperative of more than sixty juried-in East Tennessee artists dedicated to providing a vibrant marketplace for original art and fine crafts.”

Fall Flowers Bouquet
Jack Retterer’s Fall photo of Cades Cove, entitled ”Fall Flowers Bouquet”, was selected to be included in the 15th National Juried Exhibition sponsored by the Knoxville Arts and Culture Alliance. Art included in the juried exhibition was on display February 5-26, 2021 at the Emporium, Knoxville, TN.
AGTV has 7 Region IV artists that were chosen for the 2021 Tennessee Watercolor Society 50th Anniversary Online Exhibition. The online exhibition response was amazing with 193 paintings from 91 artists received and 50 were selected. (A total of 13 from Region IV).
Lil’s painting Cascade is currently included in the juried all media show Tennessee Artists Association Spring Show: Creativity Full of Positivity at the Emporium in Knoxville. It is painted on yupo and is 40” x 60”. Lil received the Best in Show award for this work.
This show runs at the Emporium from April 2-30, 2021.
Deborah Nance’s “Tomatoes” has been chosen for exhibition in the Knoxville Arts & Culture Alliance’s No Bigger Than a Breadbox exhibition. Work entered was no larger than 12″ x 12” in any direction including framing.
384 entries were received from 121 artists from the region and 67 pieces were selected for the show at the Balcony gallery of the Emporium Center, 100 S. Gay Street, Knoxville with the opening on Friday, April 2, 2021.
