Workshop Content: This class will focus on creating a large abstract painting in a two day workshop. Demonstrations and handouts will furnish participants with visuals and records for the techniques being taught. Sound principles composition and color theory will be stressed to ensure participant’s success with the project. New techniques currently in use by the teacher will be introduced.
Intuitive painting is a method of painting based on what each artist instinctively feels to be right for their particular painting. We will all begin with a similar surface treatment of the canvas. Instructions and demonstrations will suggest options that may be chosen to move the piece forward. Each artist will hopefully carry on a dialog with the image they are developing, so they can be spontaneous throughout the process.
