The Appalachian Pastel Society is centered in western North Carolina (Asheville area) and serves members from North Carolina, Tennesee, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and other states. The Southeastern Pastel Society was established in 1988 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting pastel painting in the Southeast. The Society has now grown and has members from all over the United States. We play a vital role in the pastel community by providing channels for communication and an environment in which pastel artists may flourish.

There are several levels of membership: ACTIVE: A member whose work is accepted and exhibited in one annual SW juried competition; ARTIST: A member whose work is accepted and exhibited in three annual SW juried competitions (not necessarily consecutive); SIGNATURE: Artist Class members may use the initials “SW” following their signatures.
