Class Content:
Have fun learning the fascinating painting technique of Watercolor Batik! Use melted wax and watercolor paints on a fibrous rice paper to create beautiful artwork with surprising and one of a kind results. Paint birds, trees and berries or create your own design and complete 1 or 2 watercolor batik paintings.
Demos and individual help will be provided to encourage each artist with their own creative expression.
Supply List: Please bring your own watercolor paints, brushes, water container, paper towels,
waterproof black pen (Pigma Micron size 08 or 05 or Sharpie ultra-fine point),
old newspapers you already have on hand – we use a lot of them!
Stiff painting support (cardboard or drawing board) at least 14×20 inches in size. This will be used as you apply the melted wax to your painting
Rice papers, wax, melting pots, wax brushes, freezer paper, irons and designs will be provided.
Biography: Martha Kisling has over thirty years’ experience painting in the exciting and spontaneous medium of watercolor. She also enjoys experimenting with acrylics, mixed media, collage and batik. She has taught painting classes and workshops while living in Colorado, South Carolina and now Tennessee and enjoys sharing her personal creative discoveries while encouraging students to develop their own artistic expression. Her original artwork has been exhibited in art shows and galleries and is currently being shown at the Rugby Art Gallery in Historic Rugby, TN.
