Class Content: Bluebirds, blue herons, blue jays, cardinals, hummingbirds and more! In this class you will learn how to paint a colorful and bright portrait of a bird on your surface of choice using your own favorite bird photo or references provided by the instructor.
You will learn:
- how to create a simplified pencil sketch from your reference photo
- how to transfer the sketch onto your canvas or paper
- how to paint the bird with shading to create form
- how to create an interesting background
- how to emphasize the focal point
Artists are invited to work on more than one canvas!
For artists bringing their own image, please bring a photo reference enlarged or reduced to fit your canvas size.
Biography: I am a professional mixed media artist born and raised in Knoxville, TN. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from Maryville College. I am currently employed as a manager at Jerry’s Artarama where I use my knowledge and passion of art to assist customers. I also share my knowledge by teaching classes and workshops at a variety of art and crafts centers throughout the area. Additionally, I have participated in numerous regional art exhibitions throughout my life in East Tennessee and won multiple awards.
