Biography: Judy is an award winning artist in scratchboards, watercolors and acrylic paintings. She earned a B.A. in Creative Arts summa cum laude, and taught art to Grades K-12 many years ago. She has worked as a commercial artist for over 40 years, moonlighting as a fine artist. Judy became intrigued with scratchboarding in the 1990s. She discovered it to be an excellent surface for capturing the dramatic lighting, textures, and details which have become hallmarks in her realistic artwork.
Judy is an Ampersand Art Ambassador, hand-picked to represent the company which manufactures the scratchboard panels she uses. She is an active member of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists (ISSA) and her work has been featured in their juried exhibitions, earning top awards in their two shows in 2022. Judy’s work as a scratchboard artist is featured in a new episode of “Hand Made” on the Tellico Village Network: Scratchboard Handmade Video
She is a signature member of several watercolor societies and is a frequent exhibitor in regional and statewide juried exhibitions. Judy continually shares her art passions, encouraging other artists through classes, presentations, demos, videos, and her info-packed blog.
