Class Content: Learn about creating Landscape and Floral Paintings with Alcohol Inks in this 2-day class!  Day 1 will be spent on landscapes. The techniques learned on Day 1 will be carried over to Day 2 for Floral Paintings when we go into a little more detail.

An outline of the class content will be distributed at the beginning of Day 1. We’ll talk about the different substrates that can be used, how to preserve your work, the pros and cons of the different weights of Yupo Paper, and the best ways to purchase the paper depending on your needs. (Not necessarily in a pad!) We’ll talk about the differences in different brands of ink and gadgets on the market you can live without. Kathy will bring sample paintings to show various techniques, and do demos during each day.

ALL SUPPLIES INCLUDED! Set-ups of needed equipment will be provided. There will be a small selection of colors at each individual’s desk as well as over 100 additional colors you may select from Kathy’s supply of inks to personalize your work. There will be a color chart to facilitate choosing colors that appeal to you. We will be completing 4 to 5 paintings EACH DAY, in a range of sizes which, if time allows, will be coated with several coats of spray varnish to protect and preserve your artwork. Other equipment used to create different effects like an air compressor will be available for you to try. 

Bring lunch and drinks, dessert will be provided. Email Kathy if you are gluten free or allergic to pecans or walnuts.

NOTE: This is a 2-day class. If the class doesn’t fill, Kathy will consider 1-day enrollments. If you’re interested in attending just one of these two days for $90 please email Kathy directly at info@GracehillArt.com. You will pay her directly.

Supply List: All essential supplies will be provided. Your paintings and unused Yupo paper are yours to take home. Paints and setups stay with the instructor. Kathy will have a selection of inexpensive “Clip Art Glass Frames,” to purchase should you like your artwork well enough that you want to hang it on your wall! These will be available at wholesale cost and can be purchased at class completion.

If you bring to class a piece of cardboard each day, it is easier to transport your finished work home. 20″ x 24″ is big enough.

Biography: I work in several mediums, primarily alcohol inks and pine needle basketry.
What I love about alcohol inks are the vibrancy of the color and the utter spontaneity of the medium. For the most part, I rarely use a brush. Along with selling my artwork on my website, I sell at art shows and am currently building an art gallery, Gracehill Fine Art and Basketry, in Townsend, TN.
