Class Content: Great painting doesn’t begin with technique — it begins with perception.
In this immersive one-day workshop, artist Catron Wallace guides you through how artists actually see: light and shadow, visual hierarchy, relationships, mood, and simplification. Rather than copying what’s in front of you or trying to paint “correctly,” you’ll learn how to recognize what truly matters to your eye — and how to translate that into confident, personal work.
This workshop is highly interactive and designed for artists of all levels. Through short demonstrations, guided exercises, and group discussion, you’ll strengthen your visual instincts, quiet overthinking, and build trust in your own creative decision-making.
Catron’s teaching philosophy is simple:
I’m not teaching you how to paint like me — I’m helping you learn how to paint like you.
You’ll leave with:
- A stronger understanding of how to simplify what you see
- Greater confidence in visual choices and composition
- Tools for seeing light, contrast, and emphasis more clearly
- Renewed creative energy and clarity
- A deeper connection to your own artistic voice
Whether you’re returning to your practice or ready to deepen it, this workshop offers a fresh, thoughtful way to experience painting.
All skill levels welcome.
Supply List:
- Sketchbook or loose paper
- Pencil or charcoal
- One black marker or Sharpie
- Optional: 3–5 acrylic colors + white + one small surface
Biography: Catron Wallace is a Nashville-based abstract painter whose work blends intuition, movement, and color into compositions that feel both organic and architectural. With over 30 years of professional practice, Wallace has developed a refined visual language rooted in rhythm, emotion, and the quiet power of simplicity.
Her paintings are known for their dynamic layers, luminous palettes, and the sense of grounded energy they bring to contemporary interiors. Each piece is built through a process of physical engagement — gestures, markings, and subtle shifts that echo the landscapes, seasons, and internal worlds she moves through.
Throughout her career, Wallace has exhibited across the Southeast and has placed work in private collections, designer-curated homes, and boutique gallery spaces. She maintains a steady studio practice and continues to evolve her work with a deep respect for craft and a commitment to authenticity.
Driven by a lifelong dedication to creativity, Wallace approaches each canvas as an invitation — to pause, breathe, and experience a moment of clarity. Her work resonates with collectors seeking art that is both visually striking and emotionally grounding.
