Class Content: Create beautiful handmade Christmas ornaments in this relaxed, beginner-friendly all-day workshop. These ornaments may look detailed, but the process is much easier than you might think!
You will leave with at least 10-15 handmade ornaments ready to gifting or decorating!
I will demonstrate how the plaster ornaments are poured and demolded, but you will not need to make everything from scratch. I will have many pre-cast plaster pieces ready for you to use, so you can focus on the fun, creative part.
You will learn how to:
- Arrange and attach pre-cast plaster designs onto ornament backgrounds
- Finish simple ornaments by adding hanging wire and coloring or glazing
- Choose between adding a little color or glazing with a neutral glaze
- Use glazing techniques to bring out the beautiful raised details (glazes can also be colored blue, green, etc)
You can make your ornaments as simple or as colorful as you like. No advanced painting skills are needed, and you will have plenty of pieces to choose from.
These handmade ornaments make wonderful gifts for someone special or a beautiful addition to your own holiday décor.
This is an all-day workshop from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, so please pack a lunch and plan to enjoy a creative day of Christmas crafting!
Supply List: Just pack a lunch, everything is provided!
Biography: I’m Carol Robin King, an artist and teacher with a lifelong love of art. My journey began raised as the daughter of missionaries in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where as early as the age of 3 my mom said art was the only thing that could get me to sit still!
In Argentina, art is heavily interwoven into school curriculum, so it was the perfect place to fuel my creative spark. After three years at a professional art school there, I moved to the U.S. for college and continued to find ways to make art a part of my world including painting portraits for a little extra cash.
Teaching has always been close to my heart. I’ve been sharing my passion for painting for over 20 years, starting out teaching kids in homeschool co-ops. Now I’m lucky enough to teach in-person classes at different locations around the area.
My teaching philosophy is simple: I believe that art should be fun and stress-free. I’m a patient and encouraging teacher who wants everyone to feel confident and relaxed in their art journey. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to explore new techniques, My mission is to guide you step by step in a friendly, supportive environment.
No matter your experience level, you’re welcome in my classes—and I can’t wait to help you discover your Inner Artist!
