Class Content: This workshop focuses on understanding and artistically interpreting waterfalls and cascades. Participants will explore color, shadow, reflection and movement while learning how to translate the energy and beauty of waterfalls into paint. Using Bald River Falls as a primary reference, the instructor will provide demonstrations and individual guidance as participants complete two waterfall or cascade paintings.
Supply List: Suggested Supplies to Bring:
- Watercolor or acrylic paint (a limited palette is perfect)
- You will find it useful to bring titanium white gouache or acrylic paint.
- 2–3 paint brushes, round or flat
- I use a #8 flat and # 10 round with a good point, you may want to bring a rigger brush.
- Paper, panel, or canvas (bring at least 2)
- Palette (disposable or reusable)
- Water container
- Paper towels or rags
You may also want an apron and gloves and any of your favorite supplies.
Biography: Lil Clinard has over 20 years’ experience painting with watermedia, primarily watercolor and acrylic. Her work focuses on landscapes and waterscapes, and she enjoys exploring a variety of techniques and materials. As an instructor she emphasizes experimentation and encourages artists to develop confidence and joy in their creative process. Her artwork has been exhibited in art shows and galleries and is included in both private and public collections.
