Class Content: Loose, But Not Lost is a one-day, paint-forward workshop for artists who want their work to feel freer and more expressive—without falling apart.

Many painters crave looseness but fear losing control. In this workshop, we’ll explore how to paint boldly while maintaining clarity, structure, and intention. Through short demonstrations and extended studio time, you’ll learn how to simplify, edit, and make strong compositional decisions while painting loosely.

This is not about copying a style or following formulas. I’m not teaching you how to paint like me—I’m helping you paint like you, with confidence and freedom that still feels grounded.

Expect a relaxed, encouraging environment, clear guidance, and plenty of time at the easel. You’ll leave with work that feels expressive yet resolved—and a better understanding of how to balance freedom and structure in your own painting practice.

All levels welcome.

Supply List: Suggested Supplies to Bring (Bring what you have — you do not need everything on this list.)

  • Acrylic paint (limited palette encouraged)
  • 2–3 favorite brushes
  • 1 larger brush for loose work
  • Canvas, panel, or paper (2–3 surfaces)
  • Palette
  • Water container
  • Paper towels or rags

Biography: Catron Wallace is a Nashville-based abstract painter whose work blends intuition, movement, and color into compositions that feel both organic and architectural. With over 30 years of professional practice, Wallace has developed a refined visual language rooted in rhythm, emotion, and the quiet power of simplicity.

Her paintings are known for their dynamic layers, luminous palettes, and the sense of grounded energy they bring to contemporary interiors. Each piece is built through a process of physical engagement — gestures, markings, and subtle shifts that echo the landscapes, seasons, and internal worlds she moves through.

Throughout her career, Wallace has exhibited across the Southeast and has placed work in private collections, designer-curated homes, and boutique gallery spaces. She maintains a steady studio practice and continues to evolve her work with a deep respect for craft and a commitment to authenticity.

Driven by a lifelong dedication to creativity, Wallace approaches each canvas as an invitation — to pause, breathe, and experience a moment of clarity. Her work resonates with collectors seeking art that is both visually striking and emotionally grounding.

Class Content: Bring your favorite pet to life as art in this relaxed, fun acrylic painting class! Will be painted on acrylic art paper for a smooth surface.

Before class, you’ll email me a photo of your pet. I will prepare your Art paper with a custom outline so there is no drawing required — You will trace the outline with a fine pen at class then you can jump right into painting with confidence.

During class, I’ll guide you step-by-step as you paint your pet in a loose, colorful, or natural style — in whatever colors feel right to you. Go with realistic colors or have some fun! Every painting will be unique, and I’ll be there to help you with color, shading, and finishing touches.

No experience needed The outline will be pre-made for you.

  • Custom outline prepared just for you
  • Paint in your own style with gentle guidance
  • You’ll leave with a finished pet portrait and a big smile.

NOTE: The better the photo, the better your outline will be. I need the biggest file possible, (not minimizing in size). Straight-on head only images will turn out the best for this project. You can text or call me if you need help picking a picture.

Supply List: ALL provided, just send Carol your image when you sign up

Biography: Carol Robin King is an artist and teacher with a lifelong love of art. My journey began raised as the daughter of missionaries in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where as early as the age of 3 my mom said art was the only thing that could get me to sit still!

In Argentina, art is heavily interwoven into school curriculum, so it was the perfect place to fuel my creative spark. After three years at a professional art school there, I moved to the U.S. for college and continued to find ways to make art a part of my world including painting portraits for a little extra cash.

Teaching has always been close to my heart. I’ve been sharing my passion for painting for over 20 years, starting out teaching kids in homeschool co-ops. Now I’m lucky enough to teach in-person classes at seven different locations, including a gallery, local art store and a College Lifelong Learning program.

My teaching philosophy is simple: I believe that art should be fun and stress-free. I’m a patient and encouraging teacher who wants everyone to feel confident and relaxed in their art journey. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to explore new techniques, My mission is to guide you step by step in a friendly, supportive environment.

No matter your experience level, you’re welcome in my classes—and I can’t wait to help you discover your Inner Artist!
